A SSIGNING A M ATERIAL R ESOURCE TO A T ASK

Discussion

You can assign material resources to tasks at the same time you assign work resources to tasks. However, since material resources do not perform work and do not typically impact the schedule, you can also wait and assign them when you begin to enter cost information.

When you assign a material resource to a task, you need to enter the amount of the resource required for the task in terms of the material label you assigned to it. For example, if you entered yards as the material label for the Concrete material resource, you would need to assign x yards of concrete to the desired task. If you do not enter an amount, Microsoft Project defaults to 1; therefore, in this example, 1 yard of concrete would be assigned to the task.
