duration to one day. Instead of the work for the resource changing from 16 hours to 8 hours, as it would for a fixed units task, two resources (units = 200%) are now assigned to the task, to complete 16 hours of work in one day.

You can change task types in the Task Details Form view or in the Task Information dialog box. A smart tag does not appear when you add additional resources to a task using the Task Details Form view or the Task Information dialog box. Since the task type is available in the view or dialog box, Microsoft Project assumes that you want to use the current setting.

Changing the task type

NOTE

You can also access the Task type and Effort driven options for a task on the Advanced page of the Task Information dialog box. You can disable the Effort driven option for fixed units and fixed duration tasks. If you disable effort-driven scheduling, the amount of work assigned to each resource will increase.

Procedures

1. Switch to the Gantt Chart or Task Usage view. 2. Select the task for which you want to change the task type. 3. Select the Advanced tab. 4. Select the Task type list in the Task Details Form view.
