Lesson 2 – Adjusting Resources
NOTE
To remove a split, drag one portion of the split task bar until it touches another portion of the split task bar.
Procedures
1. Switch to the Gantt Chart view.
2. Click the Split Task button
in the Schedule group.
3. Point to the area of the task bar where you want the split to begin.
4. Drag the mouse button from the start of the split to the location where you
want work on the task to begin again.
Step-by-Step
Split a task.
If necessary, switch to the Resource Sheet view. Notice that the 6 Contracting Specialist resource appears in red, indicating it is overallocated.
Switch to the Gantt Chart view. Scroll as necessary to view the task bars for the 7 Obtain Permits and 8 Obtain Bids tasks. Notice that the tasks overlap.

1. Click the Split Task button on the Task ribbon in the Schedule group. A ScreenTip appears with an illustration of a split task and directions for splitting a task. 2. Point to the area of the task bar where you want the split to begin. The mouse pointer changes into a split bar with an arrow and the ScreenTip reflects the day and date where the mouse pointer is resting.

and rest the mouse pointer where the ScreenTip displays 7/3/16.
