Lesson 1 – Opening and Closing OneNote

U NDERSTANDING THE I NTERFACE OneNote 2016 uses the familiar interface. OneNote 2016 still uses the RIBBON . Each TAB in the RIBBON contains many tools for working with and in your Notebook. Click the tab name to display a different set of commands. B UTTONS are organized into groups based on their function. In addition to the TABS , OneNote 2016 also uses the Q UICK A CCESS T OOLBAR from the MS Office 2016 applications.

The F ILE tab opens the Backstage View, which is discussed in the next topic.

On the OneNote interface shown below notice the location for the Ribbon, the Navigation Bar, the Notes window, the Pages Bar, and the Quick Access toolbar.

The Quick Access Toolbar appears at the top of the OneNote window and provides you with one-click shortcuts to commonly used functions. Customize the contents of the toolbar by clicking the arrow icon immediately to the right of the toolbar. By default, the Quick Access Toolbar contains buttons for Save, Undo Dock to Desktop, and Full Page View.
