While you can attach most computer files to your notes, you can also create an Excel spreadsheet or Visio diagram in OneNote and edit the information directly on the page. Another option is to embed a static spreadsheet or diagram in the page.

Inserting and embedding spreadsheets and diagrams works the same way.

Use the following procedure to insert a new spreadsheet or diagram.

1. In OneNote 2016, select the Insert tab. 2. Select one of the following: a. Spreadsheet > New Excel Spreadsheet . b. Diagram > New Visio Diagram .

3. Double-click the corresponding icon to edit the spreadsheet or diagram. An instance of Excel or Visio opens for you to add content. 4. Save the file like normal. OneNote creates a link to the file.

If you do not see the content, right-click the spreadsheet or diagram and select Refresh .

Use the following procedure to embed a spreadsheet or diagram static.

1. In OneNote 2016, select the Insert tab. 2. Select one of the following: a. Spreadsheet > Existing Excel Spreadsheet . b. Diagram > Existing Visio Diagram .

3. Locate the spreadsheet or diagram you want to embed. 4. In the Choose Document to Insert dialog box, select Insert . 5. In the Insert File dialog box choose Insert Spreadsheet or Insert Diagram .
