1. Position the insertion point
Click anywhere in the table
anywhere in the table you want to sort. The insertion point is placed in the table. 2. Select the Layout contextual tab on the Ribbon . The Layout contextual tab is displayed. 3. In the Data group, select the Sort button. The Sort dialog box opens with a column header selected in the Sort by box. 4. Under My list has , select the desired option based on whether the table has a header row. The option is selected.

5. Select the Sort by list.
Click Sort by
A list of available column headings appears.
6. Select the column by which you want to sort. The column heading appears in the Sort by box. The Date criterion is displayed in the Type box. 7. Select the Ascending or Descending option, as desired. The sort order is selected.
Click Release Date

Ascending
8. Select OK .
Click
The Sort dialog box closes. The table is sorted by date in the appropriate order.
Click anywhere in the document to deselect the text. Notice that the items in the table are sorted by date, using the Release Date column in ascending order.
