Practice the Concept: Type 1/2 and a space again. Notice that Word leaves the text as you typed it, and does not reformat it.

Open the AutoFormat page in the AutoCorrect dialog box. Select the Fractions (1/2) with fraction character (½) option. Select OK , then close the Word Options dialog box.

Close the document without saving it.
