Lesson 5 – Creating Action Queries

1. Select the Create tab on the Ribbon . The Create tab appears.

Click Create

2. Select the Query Design button.

A blank query opens in Design View.

Click

3. Add the desired tables to the query. The corresponding field list is added to the query.

Double-click Packing Slip

4. Close the Show Table dialog box. The Show Table dialog box closes.

Click

5. Select the Append button.

The Append dialog box opens, with the insertion point in the Table Name field . 6. Type the name of the table to which you want to append data in the Table Name field. The name appears in the Table Name field . The Append dialog box closes and an Append To row is added to the design grid. 8. Add the first field you want to append to the design grid. The corresponding field appears in the design grid. 7. Select OK .

Double-click the Ord Num field in the Packing Slip field list

9. Add additional fields to the design grid as desired.

Add the following fields to the query: Ord Date , Prod ID , Qty , Unit Price , and Ord Tot . Click in the Append To row of the Ord Num field

The corresponding fields appear in the design grid.

10. Select the Append To row under an unmatched field, if necessary. The insertion point appears in the corresponding Append To row and a drop-down arrow appears.
