Lesson – Working with Folders and Forms

Outlook 2016

U SING F OLDER P ROPERTIES  D ISCUSSION Control the way in which items in an Outlook folder work by changing the properties of the folder. Each folder has its own Properties dialog box with options you can change.

The Properties dialog box is organized into tabbed pages that vary depending on the item with which you are working. For most Outlook folders, the Properties dialog box is similar and includes the General , Home Page , AutoArchive , Permissions , and Synchronization pages. The Contacts folder includes an additional Outlook Address Book page.

The General page contains a number of options for working with folders. Use the Folder Size button to check folder and subfolder sizes for both local and server folders.

By default, Outlook folders display a number in parentheses next to the folder’s name. For most folders, this number represents the number of unread items. For the Drafts and Outbox folder, the number represents the total number of items in the folder. You can customize this property for a folder and select whether you want to show the number of unread items or the total number of items.

As you select properties in the Properties dialog box, select OK to save the settings and close the dialog box, or you can select Apply to apply the selected settings and continue working in the dialog box.
