W ORKING WITH C ALENDARS



Task

Create and assign calendars.

1. Open Rooms7 . 2. Switch to the Gantt Chart view, if necessary. 3. Point to the task bar for the 1 Create Plan task to see that it starts on a Monday and ends on a Friday with a duration of 1 week . 4. Switch to the Resource Usage view. 5. Change the working hours for the 1 Architect resource. Set the working hours for Monday through Friday to 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM with a break from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. 6. Switch to the Gantt Chart view. Notice that the 1 Create Plan task still has a duration of one week, however, the task is now scheduled from Monday through Thursday since the Architect resource works 10.5 hours a day. 7. Create a new base calendar called Union by making a copy of the Standard calendar. Mark June 20 - 24 2016 as an exception. Call it Union Retreat. 8. View the week of June 20, 2016 in the Gantt chart to see that the Painter and the Electrician resources are scheduled to work on tasks that week. 9. Switch to the Resource Usage view and assign the Union calendar to the following resources: 3 Painter , 4 Laborer , and 10 Electrician . 10. View the Gantt chart and notice that the tasks assigned to the Painter and Electrician resources were moved to the week of Jun 26, ‘16 . 11. Assign the Union calendar to the entire project. 12. Change the project calendar back to the Standard base calendar. 13. Create a new base calendar with the name Cable Installation based on the Standard calendar. Set the working time to 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Monday through Friday). 14. Assign the Cable Installation calendar to the 17 Install Network Cable task. Point to the task bar to see that the duration of the task is 1 day but the task bar spans 3 days since the task can only be worked on for four hours each day. 15. Switch to the Resource Sheet view. Change the availability of the 3 Painter resource to show that three painters (300%) are available full-time during till 7/31/16 but only two painters (200%) are available after 8/1/16
