Project 2016
Lesson – Tracking Your Progress
took longer than expected. The percent complete value is set to 100%, the remaining duration is set to zero, and the current duration is revised to match the longer duration.
If you enter a remaining duration different from the current task duration or current remaining duration value, Microsoft Project assumes you are providing a new estimate of the task’s total duration. If you enter a remaining duration of zero for a task that has started, Microsoft Project asks if you want to assign the resources at 100% or not then marks the task as 100% complete and enters the finish date based on the original schedule.
NOTE
When task duration is adjusted, Microsoft Project calculates the duration and percentage of work completed based on various formulas. If the calculation indicates the resource has free time, a message box appears stating that Microsoft Project needs to assign new work to the resource. The message box asks if you want to assign 100% to the resource or an alternative percentage. Selecting either Yes or No closes the dialog box without affecting any actual values.
