Set options on the Save Options dialog box page to control how your project files are saved. Set the default format for project files as well as specify the default locations where you want project files stored. By default, Microsoft Project saves files in the Project (.mpp) format; however, you can choose another format, such as Project 2000 - 2003 (.mpd) , as well. You can also enable Auto Save, which is disabled by default. When you enable this option, set Microsoft Project to automatically save your project at a specified interval, such as every 10 minutes. Select this feature to save the current project file only or all open files. In addition, Microsoft Project prompts you before saving changes to your files. If you do not want to be prompted before saving, disable the Prompt Before Saving option. Microsoft Project automatically saves changes to your file at the specified interval. However, the only indication that this process is taking place is a brief save message in the status bar.
