another. Travel cost, room costs, permits, and fees are variable costs. From one trip to another the costs are fixed for that task but vary between tasks. Cost resources are a way to deal with this.

After creating the cost resource, assign it to the desired task. When you assign the resource to the task, select the resource name and assign a cost.

Since cost resources do not impact the schedule, the duration of the task does not change when you assign the resource. Likewise, if the duration changes, the resource cost for the task remains fixed. Assign cost resources to tasks that have other resources assigned to them.

Procedures

1. Switch to the Gantt Chart view.

2. Split the window.

3. Apply the Resource Cost format to the bottom pane.

4. Select the task in the top pane to which you want to assign a fixed resource cost.

5. Click in the Resource Name field in the bottom pane.
