Lesson 2 – Assigning Permissions and Access Rights

ACTIVITY: S HARING S ITES AND S ETTING S ITE P ERMISSIONS

Before You Begin You should be logged into your team site and have the Team Site home page open. Scenario Now that your site is up and running, it's time to share the site with your team and set permissions on the site to grant and restrict access, as necessary. You also need to verify that specific users and groups have the permissions that they need to work in the site. In this activity, you will add security groups to SharePoint groups to assign permissions, and remove users from other SharePoint groups to restrict permissions and verify permissions assignments for users.

NOTE

In this scenario, the QA Team will be the primary users of this team site so those team members need access. Developer Project Managers need the same access as QA Team members.

1) Review the Members group and add the QA Team and Development Project Managers. a) In SharePoint, in the Team Site home page, select Settings→Site Settings. b) On the Site Settings page, under Users and Permissions select Site permissions.

c) Observe the Permission page.
