The BrightLink projector turns any flat surface into a whiteboard or interactive image. Use the pens provided (or your finger) to annotate an image or write on the whiteboard the save or print the work. Connect your computer, tablet, or smartphone to the projector or even connect a USB flash drive to the projector to display your information.

Turn Projector On Before you turn on the projector, turn on any connected equipment (computer or video equipment) and make sure the projector is plugged into an electrical socket. If it is, the blue standby light is on. 1. Press the power button on the projector or on the remote control. The blue light flashes as the projector warms up. The light stops flashing when the projector is warm and ready to use. 2. An image appears.

Remote Control Control the projector from anywhere in the room. Point it at the projection surface or the projector’s back. Do not use the remote control in a room with fluorescent lights or direct sunlight as the projector will not respond to commands. Use the Remote Control as a Mouse Use the remote control as a wireless mouse instead of staying with the computer. If the buttons associated with the mouse are set up for a left-handed user, the remote control will work the same way. 1. Connect the projector and computer as described in Connect the BrightLink to a Computer . 2. Start the presentation. 3. Do the following: a. Move through slides or pages – Press the Page up or Page down buttons. b. Move cursor – Press the arrow buttons. c. Left-click – Press the button once. d. Double-click – Press the button twice. e. Right-click – Press Esc . f. Drag and drop – Press and hold the button while moving the arrow buttons. Release the button at the destination.

Turn Projector Off

Turn off any connected equipment before you turn off the projector.

1. Press the power button on the projector or the remote control. A confirmation screen appears. 2. Press the power button again. The projector beeps twice, the lamp and the Status light turn off.

Connect the Brightlink to a Computer

1. Press the blue power button on the remote control to start the projector. 2. If the projector does not have a USB cable connected, insert a cable in the USB-B port. 3. Connect the projector’s HDMI or VGA cable to your computer.

Use the Remote Control as a Pointer

1. On the remote control, press the Pointer button. The pointer is turned on. 2. Use the arrow buttons on the remote control to move the pointer. 3. Press Esc to turn off the pointer.

Select an Image Source

If you have multiple devices connected to the projector, follow these directions to select the image source. 1. On the remote control, press the Source Search button. 2. Press the button for the source you want to use. Source options include the following: • HDMI (and MHL). • Computer. • LAN. • Whiteboard

4. Display an image or document from your computer. 5. Open Easy Interactive Active Tools . o Double-click the Easy Interactive Tools icon on your desktop. o For Mac computers, in the Applications folder, double-click the Easy Interactive Tools icon on your desktop.

Control Volume

• Use the Volume button to raise or lower the volume. • Use the projector menu to set the volume to a specific level.

Zoom In and Zoom Out

1. On the remote control, press the E-Zoom + button. A crosshair appears on the screen. 2. To adjust the image, do the following. • Move the crosshairs – Use the arrow buttons to position the crosshairs where you want to zoom. • Zoom in – Press the E-Zoom + button. • Pan – Press the arrow buttons. • Zoom out – Press the E-Zoom - button. 3. Press Esc to return the image to the original size. Split Screen Project images from two different devices on the screen at the same time. Some projector features might not be available when using split screen. Additionally, some source combinations will not work with split screen. 1. On the remote, press Split . The current source moves to the left-side of the screen. 2. Press the Menu button. The Split Screen Setup screen appears. 3. Select Source . 4. Press Enter .

3. Click the Utilities link to expand. 4. On the Easy Interactive Tools row, click Download . The software is downloaded, and a notification appears in your browser. 5. Install the software.

Interactive Modes

Interactive modes available on the BrightLink projector include the following:

• Whiteboard – Use the interactive pens or your fingers to write on the projected whiteboard. • Annotation – Use the interactive pens or fingers to write over projected content from a computer, tablet, or another source. Capture the pages, save them, or print them. • Interactive – Use the pens or fingers to write on the projected image or use them as a mouse. Split the screen as needed and save the annotations.

5. Select the source. 6. Select Execute . 7. Press Enter . 8. Select the Audio Source option. 9. Press Enter . 10. Select an audio option. 11. Press Enter . 12. Press Menu to exit.

Interactive Toolbar

Tap an item on the toolbar to change to a different option.

Exit Split Screen

On the remote control, press the Esc button or Split button.

Download Easy Interactive Tools Install the Easy Interactive tools on your computer to use with the BrightLink projector. With the software you can annotate using an interactive pen or your finger. Save the annotations for reference, distribution, or whatever you need. 1. On the Epson website , locate your BrightLink model. 2. Click the Support link below the picture. The website automatically detects your computer’s operating system.

9. Select Yes . 10. Press Enter . A pattern appears and then disappears indicating the pen is calibrated. NOTE: If a failure message appears, you must calibrate manually. 1. On the remote control, press Menu . 2. Select the Extended menu. 3. Press Enter . 4. Select Easy Interactive Function . 5. Press Enter . 6. Select Manual Calibration . 7. Press Enter . 8. Adjust the focus, if necessary 9. Select Yes . 10. Press Enter . A flashing green circle appears in the projection’s upper left corner. 11. Touch the circle center. The circle disappears, and another circle appears below the first. 12. Touch the second circle center. Repeat until all circles disappear. • Be sure to touch the circles center. • Do not block the signal between the pen and the receiver. • If you make a mistake, press Esc on the remote to go back to the previous circle. Hold Esc for two seconds to restart calibration. Manual Calibration NOTE: • Hold the pen perpendicular to the board and do not cover the black section near the pen tip. • Select a project item – Tap the icon with the pen tip. • Draw – Tap the surface and drag as needed. • Move pointer – Hover over the surface without touching. • Erase – Press the function button on the side. • Left-click – Tap the surface with the pen tip. • Double-click – Tap the surface twice. • Right-click – Press the side button or press and hold the pen on the surface. • Drag item – Tap the item and drag across the surface. • Move cursor – Hover over the surface without touching. Use the pen like a mouse in PC Interactive mode. Use the Pens Use the pen in Annotation mode or Whiteboard mode.

Whiteboard Toolbar

Tap an item on the toolbar to change to a different option.

Interactive Pens

Use one or both interactive pens to make annotations.

Turn on the Pen

Move the pen to turn it on.

The pen turns off automatically after 15 seconds of inactivity.

Calibrate Pen Calibrate the pen the first time you use the interactive features, before finger touch calibration, and when the pen tip and the content on the screen does not align because of the following:

• Geometry correction. • Adjust image size. • Using image shift. • Moving projector.

Automatic Calibration

1. On the remote control, press Menu . 2. Select the Extended menu. 3. Press Enter . 4. Select Easy Interactive Function . 5. Press Enter . 6. Select Auto Calibration . 7. Press Enter . The Auto Calibration screen appears. 8. Adjust the focus if needed.

Finger Touch

When the Touch Unit is installed with the projector, use your finger like an interactive pen.

Safety The Touch Unit uses a high-powered laser projected through the laser diffusion ports on the back, so safety precautions are a necessity. • Never take apart the Touch Unit or the project. Severe electrical injuries are possible. • Do not look in the laser diffusion ports to avoid eye damage. • Do not let laser light reflect or pass through optical devices like a mirror or a magnifying glass. Doing so can cause injury or a fire. • Unplug the projector if there are problems with the Touch Unit. • Only use qualified service people if problems occur with the Touch Unit. 1. On the remote control, press Menu . 2. Select the Extended menu. 3. Press Enter . 4. Select Easy Interactive Function . 5. Press Enter . 6. Select Touch Unit Setup. 7. Press Enter. 8. Select Touch Calibration 9. Press Enter. The Touch Calibration screen appears. 10. Adjust the focus, if necessary. 11. Select Yes . 12. Press Enter . A flashing green circle appears in the projection’s upper left corner. 13. With your finger, touch and hold the circle center until the circle disappears, and another circle appears. 14. Release your finger from the surface. 15. Touch the second circle center and repeat until all circles disappear. • Be sure to touch the circles center. • If the cursor and your finger position are offset, repeat the calibration steps. • If you make a mistake, press Esc on the remote to go back to the previous circle. Hold Esc for two seconds to restart calibration. Calibrate for Finger Touch NOTE:

• Drag item – Tap the item and drag across the surface. • Scroll – Drag your finger on the surface.

Other Operations

If supported by your operating system, you can do the following.

• Zoom in – Use two fingers and move them apart. • Zoom out – Use two fingers and move them together. • Rotate image – Touch the image with the fingers on one hand and rotate your hand. • Drag up or down – Swipe or flick. • Go back or forward in browser – Swipe or flick.

Finger Touch Issues

Finger touch might not work in the following situations.

• If you have long or artificial nails. • Bandaged fingers.

• Fingers are too close or crossed. • Free hand touches the screen. • Sleeve touches the screen. • Operating systems might not support some of the gestures.

Connect Additional Devices

In addition to connecting a computer using HDMI or VGA cables, you can attach additional devices.

Connect to Computer for Sound

1. Connect an audio cable to the computer headphone or audio out jack or connect to a desktop speaker audio-out port. 2. Connect the other end of the cable to the corresponding port on the projector.

Connect to HDMI Video Source

1. Connect the HDMI cable to the source’s HDMI output port. 2. Connect the other end of the cable to an HDMI port on the projector.

Finger Touch Annotation

Connect to MHL-Compatible Device

Use your finger like a pen in Annotation mode or Whiteboard mode.

If you have an MHL-compatible smartphone or tablet use an MHL cable or HDMI cable with an MHL adapter. 1. Connect the MHL cable or adapter to the device’s micro-USB port. 2. If you are using an adapter, connection it to the HDMI cable. 3. Connect the other end of the cable to the HDMI 1 or MHL port.

• Select a project item – Tap the icon with the pen tip. • Draw – Tap the surface and drag as needed.

Use your finger like a mouse in PC Interactive mode.

• Left-click – Tap the surface with your finger. • Double-click – Tap the surface twice. • Right-click – Press the side button or press and hold the pen on the surface.

Connect External Monitor

1. Connect your computer to the projector’s computer port. 2. Connect the external monitor’s cable to the projectors monitor out port.

Connect to External Speakers

1. Connect your computer or video source to the projector with audio and video cables. 2. With the appropriate audio cable, connect to the external speakers. 3. Connect the other end of the cable to the projector’s audio out port.

Connect USB Device

1. If your device has a power adapter, plug it into an electrical outlet. 2. Connect the USB cable or flash drive to the USB-A port on the projector. 3. Connect the other end to the device (if applicable). Connect Printer 1. Connect a USB cable to the USB-A port on the projector or the USB-B port on the control pad. 2. Connect a second USB cable to the Printer port on the control pad. (The cable must be 16.4’ or less). 3. Connect the other end of the cable to the USB-B port on the printer.
