1. Select the tasks you are assigning the material resource to. The Laborer resource is already assigned to the task and the duration is 1 day . 2. Click the Assign Resources button on the Resources tab . The Assign Resources dialog box opens. 3. In the Assign Resources dialog box, select the corresponding field in the Units column for the material resource you want to assign to the selected task. 4. Enter the desired value in the Units field and if applicable, include the time label. The desired value, along with the appropriate time label, appears in the Units field. The resource is assigned, the assigned resource appears with a checkmark at the top of the resources list in the Assign Resources dialog box, and the resource name appears next to the task bar for the selected task. 5. Select Assign . The Units field for the appropriate resource is selected and a spin box appears in the field.

Select the 15 Pour Foundation task.

Scroll as necessary and click the Units field for the Concrete resource.

Type 40.

Note: 40 yards appears in the Units field for the Concrete resource since a material label was assigned to it. Close the Assign Resources dialog box. Notice that the task duration did not change, since material resources do not perform work to complete a task. Also, Concrete [40 yards] now appears next to the Gantt bar for the Pour Foundation task, along with the Laborer resource.
