Discussion
Cost resources are charges associated with your project. The same type charge can be associated with different tasks and different value amount. You can add these costs to the Fixed Cost field in the Cost table or you can create cost resources in the Resource Sheet view.
Unlike work resources, cost resources do not typically impact the schedule since they do not perform work to complete a task.
When you create a cost resource, you need to enter the resource name in the Resource Name field and change the Type field to Cost . Some fields in the resource sheet are unavailable for cost resources. For example, since you do not need to specify availability of the resource for scheduling, the Max. Units, Std. Rate, Ovt. Rate and Cost/Use fields are unavailable. In addition, since it is not a materials resource, the Material Label field is also unavailable.
As with work and material resources, it is a good idea to change any duplicate initials in the Initials field. You can also assign material resources to groups using the Groups field as desired.
Procedures
1. Switch to the Resource Sheet view. 2. Select the first empty field in the Resource Name column. 3. Enter the name of the cost resource.
4. Select the Type field. 5. Select the Type list. 6. Select Cost from the Type list.
