Project 2013 Introduction
Lesson 4 – Working with Resources
Project 2013
NOTE
The Microsoft Project Professional edition also includes a R/D field ( Request/Demand field) in the Assign Resources dialog box. This field is used to indicate if you can substitute another resource with the same skills for the requested one. You can assign multiple resources in the Assign Resources dialog box by selecting the first resource, holding [Ctrl] , clicking the remaining resources, and then selecting Assign . The default maximum unit value of 100% will be assigned to the task for each selected resource. However, if the value entered into the Max. Units field for the resource is less than 100%, that value will be assigned. You can assign resources to summary tasks if desired. Be careful, however, not to assign the same resource to the subtasks of the summary task as this may result in overallocated resources. You can assign several different resources to the same task. You can select multiple, consecutive resources, or use the [Ctrl] key to select non-consecutive resources. However, you cannot assign multiple units of a resource using the Assign Resources dialog You can assign the same resource to multiple tasks at the same time by first selecting the tasks and then assigning the resource. If you change an existing resource assignment by adding new resources or units of the same resource, a smart tag appears allowing you to select how the additional resource will affect the task.
