Project 2013 Intermediate
Lesson 6 – Tracking Your Progress
Project 2013
Entering timephased work values
NOTE In addition to analyzing work over a period of time, you can analyze costs over a period of time by selecting the Cost or Actual Cost field from the Details submenu on the Format menu. You can change the timescale in a usage view to record work per minute, hour, day, week, month, quarter, or you can create a custom time interval. The timescale is saved with the view. When the duration for a task is adjusted, Microsoft Project calculates the duration and percent work complete based on various formulas. If the calculation indicates the resource has “free time”, a message box will open stating that Microsoft Project needs to assign new work to the resource. The message box will ask if you want to assign 100% to the resource or an alternative percentage. Selecting either Yes or No closes the dialog box without affecting any actual values.
