Lesson 7 - Customizing Project Information

On the Gantt Chart Tools tab in the Bar Style group - check the Critical Tasks box. Notice the critical path tasks turn red in the Gantt Chart. Open the Options dialog box.

1. Click Advanced .

The Advanced options are displayed.

2. Scroll to the desired options, as needed.

Scroll to the Calculation Options for this Project: section.

The section with the desired options appears.

In the field: Tasks are critical if slack is less than or equal to, change the value to 1.

3. Select the calculation options as desired.

The calculation options are modified as desired.

4. Select OK .

Click

The Options dialog box closes and the calculation options are saved.

Notice that the critical path now includes the 2 Conduct Site Survey , 3 Develop Blueprints and 4 Draft Proposal tasks.

Practice the Concept: Change the calculation settings so those tasks with slack less than or equal to 0 are critical.

Microsoft Project provides a set of drawing tools that enable you to enhance the appearance of your Gantt charts. You can add text and graphic objects to call attention to various tasks or add information to the view. The Drawing tool features buttons that allow you to draw objects such as rectangles, arrows, and text boxes. You can change the color of, move, and resize objects that you create, as well as attach objects to tasks. In addition, you can type the desired text in a text box and format it accordingly.
