Adding a task to a timeline. If necessary, activate the timeline.

1. Activate the Format tab of the Timeline Tool. The Timeline Ribbon is displayed. 2. In the Insert group, select Existing Tasks .

Check the boxes beside Conduct Site Survey & Request Bids .
3. Select the tasks to add. The tasks are selected.

Practice the Concept: Select task 14 Dig Foundation. Right click the task and select add to timeline. This task is now added to the timeline.
F ORMATTING THE T IMESCALE
Discussion
The timescale graphically displays the units of time measured in your project schedule. The timescale, which appears in several views including the Gantt Chart view, consists of three units of measurement. Each unit of measure on the timescale is displayed in a tier (row). The default timescale displays two units of measure, or two tiers. You can choose to display a one, two, or three tiered timescale. The tiers represent a descending unit of time, with the top tier displaying the largest unit of measure and the bottom tier displaying the smallest unit of measure. For instance, if the top tier displays quarters, the middle tier beneath it can appear in months, and the bottom tier in days. If you select an inappropriate unit of measure for the tier, a message box appears informing you that your tier is mismatched. The top tier is normally turned
