Lesson – Tracking Your Progress
R ESCHEDULING U NCOMPLETED W ORK
Discussion
Projects do not always proceed according to plan. If work is not completed on time, reschedule the uncompleted work for another date. Manually reschedule the work by splitting a task, or let Microsoft Project reschedule the uncompleted work for you.
When Microsoft Project reschedules a task, it reschedules uncompleted work after the status date or a date you specify. You can let the program reschedule uncompleted work for the entire project or for selected tasks only.
If you use the status date to reschedule work, use the Options dialog box Calculation page to choose how rescheduled work that was completed should be treated. Work completed after the status date can be moved back to the status date and work completed before the status date can be moved forward to the status date.
NOTE
If you use the status date to reschedule work for a specific task, you can select the task and use the Reschedule uncompleted work option on the Update Project dialog box. If you do not want Microsoft Project to split tasks that are partially complete, disable the Split in-progress tasks option on the Options dialog box Schedule page.
