Lesson 4 – Integrating with Microsoft Office

SharePoint 2016

TOPIC C: A CCESS S HARE P OINT D ATA FROM O UTLOOK 2013 Many people use Microsoft Outlook as their primary productivity tool. In effect, Microsoft Outlook becomes the hub they use to access the information they work with the most. In this topic, you will learn how to synchronize information from SharePoint to Microsoft Outlook. C ONTENT THAT CAN S YNCHRONIZE FROM S HARE P OINT TO O UTLOOK If you have Microsoft Outlook installed on your local computer, you can synchronize document libraries, calendars, contact lists, and other types of lists from SharePoint to Outlook. This brings the content into Outlook, allowing you to select the library, calendar, or list, and work with the documents or items it contains from Outlook. If Outlook is available offline, you can work on information synchronized from SharePoint while offline, and the information will be updated when you are back online.

L OCATION OF S YNCHRONIZED S HARE P OINT I NFORMATION IN O UTLOOK . Synchronized calendars, lists, and libraries will appear in the Outlook Folder pane. For example, a synchronized calendar would appear under Other Calendars. Items from the calendar, list, or library will appear in the Content pane. For example, if you synchronized a document library, the documents stored in that library would appear in the Content pane. You could then select a document and see a preview of it in the Reading pane in Outlook.
