L IST N AME , D ESCRIPTION , AND N AVIGATION S ETTINGS The list name, description, and navigation settings group contains the following configuration settings:

Name

Enables you to enter the name of the list or library. This is the name that is shown on pages containing the list or library, or whenever the list or library is opened. A text description of the list or library. Site owners typically describe the intended user, audience and purpose when describing a list or library. Enables you to specify whether there is link to this list or library displayed in the Quick Launch area.

S ITE A SSETS L IBRARY The Site Assets library is created by default when you create a new site in SharePoint and is based on the Asset Library template. The Site Assets library is intended to allow site owners to store images, video, audio, and other rich media for easy access to and reuse throughout the site.

NOTE

When you uploaded your site logo, you placed it in the Site Assets library for your site.

Q UICK L AUNCH R ECENT N AVIGATION When you add lists and libraries to your SharePoint site from the Site Contents Your Apps page, by default, your newly added list, library, or app is added to the Quick Launch area under the heading Recent. This provides an easy way for you to find and navigate to your new list, library, or app, and you can later customize the Quick Launch to add, remove, or reorganize links on the Quick Launch.

NOTE Customizing the Quick Launch will be covered in the

"Configuring Site Settings, Navigation, and Search" lesson. For now, you will be using the Quick Launch area to navigate to lists and libraries you add to your site.
