S PREADSHEETS AND C USTOM L ISTS SharePoint users commonly move data that is organized and tracked in spreadsheets into custom lists in SharePoint. To facilitate this, SharePoint provides an option to create a custom list based on a spreadsheet by selecting the Import a Spreadsheet option when selecting a list, library, or app to add to the site. S PREADSHEET I MPORT A PPROACH One strategy to help ensure data is imported correctly and columns are configured correctly is to do some test imports. Import your spreadsheet, and see what columns are created and where data ends up. If things aren't correct, consider deleting that list, then reorganizing the source spreadsheet to separate data more clearly, and then try importing the spreadsheet again.
