Project 2013 Introduction
Lesson 4 – Working with Resources
Project 2013
Practice the Concept: Select the 3 Develop Blueprints task and assign the Architect to the task. Since the maximum unit value for each resource is 100%, you can select Assign without entering anything in the Units field and the assignment units will equal 100% by default. Close the Assign Resources dialog box and scroll the Gantt chart to view the resource assignment. Switch to the Task Usage view and select the 3 Develop Blueprints task, if necessary. Use the Scroll to Task button in the Editing Group on the Task tab to view the assignment. Scroll the dates from Tuesday, 6/7/16 to Monday, 6/20/16. Notice that the resource was assigned to 80 hours of work to complete the task which has a two week duration. Assign two resources to the same task. Select the 29 Run Phone Lines task. In the Assign Resources dialog box, select the Laborer , hold the [Ctrl] key and select the Phone Technician . Assign both resources to the task. Close the Assign Resources dialog box. Switch to the Gantt chart view and view the 29 Run Phone Lines task. Notice that each resource was assigned 8 hours of work, with the total work for the task being 16 hours . However, the duration of the one day ( 8 hour ) task has not changed.
Return to the Gantt Chart view scroll to see that both resource names appear to the right of the Run Phone Lines task bar.

Discussion
The Team Planner view is a resource scheduling view that lets you interact with your schedule. With the Team Planner view you can see at a glance what your team members are working on and move tasks from one person to another. You can also view and assign unassigned work, view overallocations and see task names as well as resource names — all in one efficient view.
You can use the Team Planner to assign work resources to tasks. The Team Planner button is located on the Resource ribbon in the View group. You scroll to find unassigned tasks in the bottom pane and drag it to the resource on the upper pane. Use caution when dragging so you do not drag it to a different start date.
