4. Select the Cost rate table list.

A list of letters representing the five cost rate tables appears.

5. Select the letter representing the desired table. The desired table is selected and the letter representing it appears in the Cost rate table box.

The Assignment Information dialog box closes and the cost rate table is assigned to the desired task or resource.

Practice the Concept: Select the Format tab and go to Details group, and then select the Cost checkbox to add the Cost field to the Task Usage view. Scroll to the week of Sep 12, ‘16 to view the cost of the 21 Install Windows task. Notice that the daily cost for the Laborer resource for 16 hours of work each day is $320.00 .

Scroll to the week of Sep 18 ’16 to view the cost of the 22 Install Siding task and notice that the daily cost for 16 hours of work is $480.00 . The Install Windows task uses the standard rate from table A which is $20.00/hour (x 16 hours = $320). The Install Siding task uses the standard rate from table B which is $30.00/hour (x 16 hours = $480).

Discussion

Some material resources may have costs that are fixed. You create material resources with fixed costs in the Resource Sheet view just as you do other materials resources. However, for fixed cost material resources, you do not enter a material label. In addition, the amount you enter into the Std. Rate is the fixed resource cost, not the cost per unit of measurement.

After creating the fixed cost material resource, you need to assign it to the desired task. When you assign the resource to the task, you simply select the resource name, since a unit value does not apply as it does for work resources and material resources with per unit costs. The Unit field for fixed cost resources reflects a 1 ,
