Discussion
Microsoft Project calculates work values for tasks. Enter the total hours of work completed and remaining for a task. If a single resource is assigned to the task, the work values are applied to that resource. If multiple resources are assigned to the task, the hours are distributed in relation to the percentage of time each resource is scheduled to spend on the task. To update your progress, you can enter work values for individual resources assigned to the same task. If you have resources that are working on the same task at different rates, enter the work for the individual resources instead of the total for the task. When you enter the work values, Microsoft Project sums them automatically to calculate the total work completed on the task to date.
The Task Usage view with the Work table applied allows you to enter actual and remaining work values for tasks and individual resources. While you can also use the Project Guide to track the amount of work completed on a task, you must split the view to enter work amounts for individual resources.
